My first-ever contest!
So, for those of you who have been reading along over the past few weeks, you will know that I am doing my damnedest to finish up my WIPs and to use up what I have.
Which is just a nice way of saying "no more crap enters this house until I get rid of some of what I already have!!"
Progress was made ... I'm chugging away on the big orange baby blanket.
I sent this blanket off to Rebekah to donate to her animal shelter.
I sent this pile of baby sweaters to Circles to donate to Cradle to Crayons.
I whipped up a cute little notebook cover, using leftover fabric from my couch pillows, leftover interfacing from my two skirts, and leftover ribbon from my Sitcom Chic. (When the notebook is closed, those ribbons tie into a cute little bow...)
I started a new project using up more stuff in my crafty-bitch stash ...
(Full details, and more photos, to come whenthe project is finished the contest is over -- see below!)
So, feeling all high and mighty and proud of myself, I had the perfect blog post composted in my head about what a good girl I have been, and how I've been crafting from the stash and resisting the temptations to buy more.
And then, a voice from over the cubicle wall asks me "have you read Mason-Dixon today?"
Why no, I had not. Clicky-click on over ... to read this post.
Really, go click on over. Then come back. I'll wait.
So, it seems that my purging has all been in the interest of acquiring more fibery goodness.
So, I am now announcing my first ever blog contest!! (Otherwise known as "whoring for comments".)
Can you guess what my latest crafty project is, those pink and white polka-dotted things shown above?
Any guess, no matter how ludicrous, will be entered in the drawing for some fabulous prizes. How fabulous, you might ask?? Well, we'll have to wait until the Hefty bag arrives!! 'Cause, you know, the hubby is not going to be so pleased when an entire bag full of yarn show up on the doorstep. So, I'll need to let him know that some of it is already designated as yarny prize giveaways! Augmented by stuff from my own stash, too. (Any non-knitters out there, we'll find a suitable prize for you too!)
(Mafia, you are the only one who knows what those pink and white things are, so don't let the cat out of the bag!)
The contest will be open until next Tuesday at noon, east coast time. Leave a comment or send me an email (address in sidebar) with your NAME and BLOG ADDRESS or EMAIL ADDRESS. Be creative with your guesses!

Congrats!! Hmm, let's see... Covers for "bar" style stools?? Or the tops of toadstools. Heh.
By Chris, at 3:36 PM
They look clay-ey to me... fake cookies? coasters? I don't think I know, Danielle - do you have kids? this looks like a kid's craft project. :-)
No prize necessary here (even if available!), just had to jump in so I can flaunt my nearly-non-existant blog too! ;-)
And, oh, cool! Mason-Dixon said "FlyLady"! I'm a fan, but not a good follower lately. Sigh.
By Anonymous, at 4:23 PM
I can't be part of the contest? Damn.
Then I can't guess decorative covers for your birth control box?
No worries, I won't let the cat out o' the bag. The truth is out there. (I miss Scully - meow)

Paperweights?
By Deb, at 4:57 PM
Yep, I immediately thought of tops for knitting needles.
By Julie, at 5:03 PM
Buttons???

Beer bottle cap cozies?
Two halves of a yo-yo?
By Anonymous, at 5:31 PM
congratulations on your big win!
so very exciting.
i'll have to come back and guess. i'm not inspired to be clever right this minute (assuming i ever am)
By maryse, at 5:32 PM
At first I thought they were tops for homemade knitting needles but chris q guessed that so I'll have to go with my second guess: pasties for your new stripping act to earn more yarn money. Well, probably not.

I'm thinking jar tops. Made of ... sculpy clay?
Jar tops. That's my guess, and I'm sticking with it.
By Ruth, at 9:25 PM
Oh goodie! I'm guessing these are Bowl Covers!
By Bonne Marie, at 7:21 AM
Hey, I'll help you feel cheap! OK, I would guess that the size of the project must be on the small side, as the white dot on the pink base looks like it has fingerprint grooves. I am guessing that you were comissioned to make some models for a remake of "Plan 9 from Outer Space." In keeping with the feel of the original movie, you are not going with Matrix-like special effects. The action in the movie will all be done with litte Lego people. What's shown in the picture are the UFOs for the movie. A vast improvement over the pie tin on a string, I'll say.
By Anonymous, at 7:27 AM
They look like clay ... are you making your own Stitch Markers? Cute pokka dot retro stitch markers. Oh how cute!
If I win, I want you to donate my winnings to a Senior Center in your area. A lot of seniors can't afford new yarn if they only have social security to live on. In fact, I'm suddenly inspired to start my own clean out program. Starting this Sunday!
By Rhonda the Stitchingnut, at 9:26 AM
hhmmmm, i'm going to say stitch markers too :) original, i know. but that looks like sculpey or fimo clay to me!
By spajonas, at 10:12 AM
I am also going with knitting needle caps.
By Mindy, at 10:24 AM
hmm... definitely clay. They look like tasty m&m cookies.
Based on the fingerprints, they look to be about 1.5-2" in diameter.
I'd guess bottle or jar tops, but those are taken, so I'm going to go with Princess Toadstool* costume hats for barbie dolls.
* Princess Toadstool was the female character in the Super Mario Brothers series.
By Nadira, at 10:24 AM
What the heck? Are they fridge magnets, maybe? Whatever they are, they're pretty nifty-looking.

By Jeanne, at 3:14 PM
are they going to be buttons???
By CelticCastOn, at 4:48 PM
I guess buttons! They are super cute, too...
By Anonymous, at 4:58 PM
I have to say buttons also, because my imagination has left until school starts and my children leave me alone...
By Guinifer, at 5:01 PM
What a great day to stumble on over here... I'm going to guess either Stitch Markers or heavy-duty girly eye patches... Pirates ar in right now, right? :-P
By Unknown, at 5:20 PM
I have absolutely no idea, so I'm not even going to try, but boy all your stuff is adorable. And the blanket came today, it's so cute, I'll try and drop it off this weekend.
By Anonymous, at 5:57 PM
Hi - lots of great projects you have made lately! Hmm, are they polymer clay cupcakes?
By RheLynn, at 8:52 PM
hmmm, definately look like clay. Maybe some cute little beads for stitch markers?
By Risë, at 8:41 AM
My guess is something polymer clay - but it looks like someone already beat me to it :( buttons perhaps????
By Anonymous, at 8:42 AM
Beads?
By Anonymous, at 9:09 AM
I'm thinking polymer clay beads for stitch markers.
By sheep#100, at 9:13 AM
Hmm, some kind of sculpy clay. I'm not the first to guess buttons, but that's what I think. Cute colors.
By Panda, at 9:33 AM
Earmuff Covers?
The world's first clay based thumbprint verification system? :~)
Warming stones for little pockets in winter?
Polka-dotted hamburger buns?
Diaphram case?
By Just A Knit Wit, at 10:14 AM
Considering that Kat is making knitted donuts, are you making polymer clay donuts with candy trim?
Congrats on your knitting up your stash successfully!
((hugs))
By Nana Sadie, at 10:17 AM
Like so many others have said - definitely polymer clay something - beads or buttons or stitch markers perhaps. (But you know what it reminds me of is cake fondant. )

well it's clay for sure!!! soo I thinking maybe...um...clay stitch markers!!
haha just a guess...
By Anonymous, at 12:33 PM
Well they just might be Stitch markers not yet baked to the right size.
OR they could be needle toppers...
that is my choice and I am sticking to it:)
By Anonymous, at 12:34 PM
pasties.
really heavy ones.
By al, at 12:43 PM
Buttons. Beautiful buttons to go with beautiful knitware.
By Anonymous, at 12:44 PM
Drinks coasters?
By Anonymous, at 12:46 PM
MY guess would be really cool buttons or button covers
By Anonymous, at 12:47 PM
I know, I know! A lawnmower!?! Am I right or am I right.
Or maybe two super-chic Rhoombas?
By Anonymous, at 12:49 PM
Hi. My guess is polymer clay decorative ends for knitting needles.
http://shirleyknits.blogspot.com
By shirleyknits, at 12:49 PM
For the 30th time, buttons!
By Carol, at 12:55 PM
Chair cozy? You can never have enough cozies...
Ok, maybe buttons is a more likely guess :)
By K8, at 12:58 PM

Based on the size of the fingerprint, I`ll say fridge magnets.
By Spinningfishwife, at 12:59 PM
I guess they are buttons. Not a creative guess, but that is what they look like.
By Anonymous, at 1:02 PM
I really think they are buttons, too.
By Jenn, at 1:13 PM
Fimo buttons? Beads?
By mary, at 1:14 PM
Covers for those retractable tape measures?
By Anonymous, at 1:19 PM
ends for the knitting needles...you know, those things to keep your project from falling off the needles
By meowmix, at 1:21 PM
I'd say they look like buttons or stitch markers, judging by the finger/thumb print grooves. But perhaps a little large for all of the above... perhaps drawer pulls for a kid's room... or beads. Definitely made of Fimo or Sculpie or some such polymer clay.
Though I do like the idea of pasties (very retro ones, by the look of it!)
By Lori, at 1:24 PM
They look too flat for knitting needle finials and based on the size of the finger prints on them, too big. I'm going to guess a pin cushion made out of modeling clay.
By Anonymous, at 1:26 PM
Jam jar lids - or iced buns!!!!!!!

I'm thinking clay buttons too. I like how you can see the lines and whorls of your fingerprints in the clay.
By Francesca, at 1:33 PM
Decorated Compact Mirrors!
By Anonymous, at 1:33 PM
Door knobs made from fimo clay?
or drawer knobs I suppose!
Or, coasters for under a glass?
By Flan, at 1:33 PM
I'm thinking that a spotted alien space craft landed in your front yard and, in the interest of keeping up the progress and cleaning up/clearing out, you've now converted the small ship into these cute polka dotted bowl shaped dishes to hold odds, ends and more of the unruly things laying around the house....
Or they could be really heavy ear muffs....

clay buttons?
By Unknown, at 1:39 PM
Those look to me like they may be buttons made out of Fimo. Which reminds me I've got a big block of the stuff to use up.
By Kristin, at 1:39 PM
i'm sorry to guess the same as the rest, but buttons is the answer. maybe we should have some sort of craft-off if there's a tie?
By Anonymous, at 1:42 PM
Paperweights? Mushrooms in which Smurfs will live? Centerpiece decorations? Coasters? Drawer pulls?
By Megs, at 1:43 PM
Kymm had the same idea I did - covers for the round retractable tape measures.
But I like lawnmower, too. So I think I'm going to go with lamp. Definitely a lamp. Or a model of a 1958 Edsel. Am I close?
By Anonymous, at 1:44 PM
Hello... I've wandered over from the Mason-Dixon Knitting blog... those look like perfect door pulls for the cookie and candy cupboards!
By noricum, at 1:44 PM

I think they're stitch markers. (I couldn't be the 8000th person here to guess buttons.) Congrats on churning out the FOs!
By Leyna Faye, at 2:06 PM
The first thing that popped into my mind when I saw that picture was polymer clay erasers. Any chance I'm right?
Made my way here from Mason-Dixon. Congrats on the hefty bag!

Dolls to give to children who have the measles?
By teabird, at 2:48 PM
Polymer clay buttons for another baby sweater. I know, not a very creative guess, but that's all I've got. Congrats on your first contest. I'm running my first contest right now too--a guess the FO recipent contest. www.wavybrains.com/auntie_esq/
By chanceofbooks, at 3:00 PM
button button who's got the button?
i say buttons.
wow, cant imagine what will be in that Hefty bag from MDk!
By southern gal, at 3:16 PM
I think you have made polymer clay cookies. I don´t know why you would do that but that´s what they look like to me :)
Nice colors by the way!
By Anonymous, at 3:20 PM
I think they look like squeaky rubber dog toys.
Cindy
By Cindy, at 3:30 PM
I recognize the polymer clay. So my reasonable guess is either knitting needle tops or buttons or beads. They'd probably be too heavy as pasties.
By Mei Travis, at 3:33 PM
Man - I think all my guesses were taken. I was going to guess fake cookie, or clay, or buttons, or doorknobs. So, I'll go with earrings.
By RandomRanter, at 3:35 PM
I can tell they are polymer clay.... How many guesses do we get? I'm going with 3.
1. Buttons for a fabulous felted bag.
2. magnets
3. Jar lid covers for baby food jars full of beads.
By Anonymous, at 3:51 PM
The tops to knitted cupcakes!
By littledevilworks, at 3:54 PM
That looks like clay of some sort, so I'm thinking either fancy ends for needles or stitch markers. Very cute. :)
By Jena, at 3:54 PM
If you make several in each color - I guess Checkers - to replace those dull black and red ones!
By Anonymous, at 4:04 PM
Polymer clay... buttons.

Amy
By newamy, at 4:45 PM
I could say buttons which are my first thought but they could be coasters?
By mrspao, at 4:52 PM
Hmm...Chris sent me over, I have no idea what that could be so right this moment I'm trying to think of something creative...of course, when one is trying to be creative, nothing happens! Ok, they are...they are...drawer-pulls for a Barbie doll house!! I'm right!! I just know it!! (har...!)
By Anonymous, at 5:00 PM
I'm guessing your new craft is POLYMER CLAY buttons!!!...

Knobby ends for you homemade knitting needles. :)
By Anonymous, at 5:12 PM
Congratulations on winning the MDK contest. What fun to have a bag of yarn show up on your doorstep. Imagine going through it all.
I guess that they are clay thumb tack cover thingies.
Thanks,
Lynn
By Anonymous, at 5:16 PM
Fimo, fake cookies for the doll house. Do you have a doll house? Who knows. But that just must be it!
By Mary deB, at 5:27 PM
Hmmm, I have to say buttons. Maybe kinda large ones for something like a felted bag. Or maybe they just look large - I don't know. Just buttons.
http://noolieknits.blogspot.com
By Anonymous, at 5:48 PM
I really have no idea but didn't want to miss out on a contest. They look like the top of toadstools to me but not sure what you would be making toadstools for...unless it is one of those loop-the-yarn-around-the-wire-on-top-of-the-toadstool-and-knit-something thingees. That I"m sure have a real name.
By Kim in Oregon, at 5:54 PM
I'm a posty h0r! Alright, those polka dotted things seem to have been made out of clay. Judging from the ridges that I assume come from fingers, they're about the size of half-dollars and may be too big for stitch markers, although they'd be cute ones! So I'm jumping on the band wagon and calling them buttons.
Or future fridge magnets! I can't make up my mind.
By Kit, at 5:54 PM
I'm thinking buttons too!! Congrats on winning the yarn! That is awesome!
Oh & congrats on destashing as well! I'm working on that too and well it's tough when there is so much tempting stuff out there!
By Leah, at 6:01 PM
I'm thinking defiantely polymer clay buttons or checker peices for a game on a knitted board or thingthing like that
or could be beads fro markers or tops of your own handmade needles....pretty anyway
have fun!
By soapy, at 6:13 PM
Congrats on the win!
I'm going to say buttons.
By Sydney Harper, at 6:32 PM
They look like clay or play doh to me, so I'm going with girlie buttons. I love the colors!
Robin rdo1958@comcast.net
By Anonymous, at 6:33 PM
I guess fimo stitch markers...or...fake cookies for a doll house.
By Anonymous, at 6:35 PM
Hmmm ... everyone has pretty well answered what I was going to say -- buttons -- so I guess I will guess that you are making a set of stitch markers.
By Samantha, at 7:07 PM
yeah, i'm going to go with stitch markers too.
By Rocketbride, at 7:17 PM
buttons, beads, day-low m&m cookies, mod furniture for doll house, play pastries for kids kitchen.
By Anonymous, at 7:19 PM
Un-edible Mother's Circus Animal cookies!
By Wendee, at 7:33 PM
I also vote for stitch marker beads. I think the colors are sweet.
By LaurieM, at 7:39 PM
Jewelry, definately jewelry. I'm thinking a pin.
By Anonymous, at 7:47 PM
I am thinking that the are either toppers for knitting needles or buttons.
By crazymom, at 8:07 PM
Could have been buttons, but you left out the holes... so I'm saying stitch markers (the holes for the loops are hidden on the sides).
By Anonymous, at 8:13 PM
I'm thinking drawer knobs or something more household decorative like that.
By Beth, at 8:13 PM
I'm guessing that you're making stitch markers from clay. I love the colors, BTW. :O)
By Sara M., at 8:14 PM
Some kind of sculpey clay beads
By rohanknitter, at 8:37 PM
Those are fabric Circus Cookies. I've seen some knit donuts lately, so those must be those pink and white frosted cookies with sprinkles. They are also pillows for the bed.
So...Circus Cookie Pillows. Can I get the pattern? :)
By Becky, at 8:45 PM
Ummm....clay polka-dotty coasters? Whatever they are, they are cute!
By Lisa, at 8:50 PM
are they little garden stones like for a walkway?
they look super fun :)
By Kate, at 9:07 PM
It's hard to tell since there's not really a way to get a sense of scale, but maybe they're pendants for a kid's necklace.
By Anonymous, at 9:15 PM
Well, I'm pretty sure it's polymer clay and my first thought was buttons, since I make buttons out of polyclay. Seem a bit thick in the picture though. No real scale to go by. Damn you, macro lens! I guess I'll go with buttons.
Yours is the second blog today that has mentioned being a comment whore. If I knew how, I'd make a button (electronic) and start a group. We could all post comments to each others' blogs to make us feel good. LOL. So it looks like the contest works, maybe I should try one......
By Dana Deraney, at 9:22 PM
I must be hungry, because my first thought was "fondant-covered cupcakes, with yummy icing dots". Am now on my way to rummage through the cupboard in a vain quest for something sweet.
By Carol Ann, at 9:40 PM
Fake candies to distract the kiddies from the real treats in the fridge.
Elf chairs to try and lure them into your home to finish all your UFO's for you.
Fairy stools for luck.
Congrats on hefty bag o' stuff and the de-stashing.

Knitting Needles [homemade] from kids knitting by Melanie Falick. I think. The book's not near me right now.
By Anonymous, at 10:38 PM
Well good night! How did I manage to stumble upon a contest???
Is it too late? I haven't read the 129 comments above (whoa - 129???). My guess is a paperweight.
The notebook cover is very pretty. That's a great idea for scraps.
By Anonymous, at 10:41 PM
Without reading the earlier guesses, I'll go with, um....they are earrings??
By Anonymous, at 10:54 PM
They are clearly Martian Whoopie Pies!

Fimo button tops of some sort?
By Anonymous, at 11:38 PM
cupcake coin purses?
or just really really cute little zippered pouches
I guess thats a boring guess.
By Anonymous, at 11:52 PM
Are they permanent thumbprint holders? As in for child-identification purposes? Or a baking experiment gone wrong?
M & M rest homes? Paperweights?
Do tell when the Hefty bag arrives...

Cupcakes made with Sculpty clay?
By Pensguys, at 12:15 AM
I'll take the serious route and say that they're tops for handmade knitting needles.
That or cleverly sculpted fake candy to fool small children. ;)
By Unknown, at 12:26 AM
I'm gonna guess a multipurpose kinda knitting tool - a book weight to keep your book open when you're knitting, and a place marker to help you visually look back at your pattern at the right spot. Whatever they are they are VERY cute!
By Anonymous, at 12:48 AM
Oh man, forgot to leave my email address. It's janelle.taggart@ci.stockton.ca.us Thanks.
By Anonymous, at 12:50 AM
I think that you are making polymer clay drop spindles. These are prospective whorls. You are powerless to resist the call of the spin.
By Sarah, at 1:33 AM
I'm guessing buttons. I bet I;m the first to say that. snort.
By Gretchen, at 2:27 AM
Marmite jar lids!

I'm going to stray from the mainstream and guess they are going to be something for outside in your yard or garden...maybe toppers for your yard lights or citronelly Tikki candles, or stepping stones for your garden.
By Anonymous, at 6:47 AM
You'll probably get a lot more readers after Ann's link. I'm one and I love it here.
I think...uh tops for round Altoid-type tins..if there is such a thing
By Susan, at 7:17 AM
I'm guessing buttons for the one zillionth time.
(I came over from MDK, so I'm sure you're going to have a ton of readers on your hands!)
By Rose, at 7:23 AM
Well, I know that my niece would be ecstatic if those were the buttons for her Christmas sweater (I make the whole immediate fam a knitted item for Christmas). However, since you know neither myself or my niece, I doubt they're specifically for her. They do appear to be about the right size for small buttons so that's my guess. Buttons, and fun ones at that!
By Anonymous, at 8:14 AM
magnets?
By Unknown, at 8:33 AM
I think they are fancy covers for mason jars, because you are now into making your own Jams & Jellies.... Yes?

By Hey Bulldog!, at 1:23 PM
They are obviously negative molds for sunken polka dot mystery items. Aren't they?
By Moze, at 1:46 PM
I think they're clay fanciful m&m cookies that are loaded with magnets to stick them on the refrigerator. Or lids for craft-containment receptacles. Perhaps when they are attached to the bottom of the craft containment receptacle, they'll look like cupcakes.
By Unknown, at 4:09 PM
Hmmm, I believe theyre those neat-o jar lid covers that you make with polymer clay. Looks darling!
By Anonymous, at 4:37 PM
I'll go with drawer pulls.

I took a good hard look at these and they look like buttons to me - you can see an imprint of a fingerprint on one of the dots! But just for fun lets say that they are...Dr. Seussian tree tops for a wacky miniature railroad set.
By lieblingsgarn, at 8:03 PM
i can't get past the idea of them being chocolate chip cookies...little sculpey clay pink and white cookies with purple, white, pink, and orange chips. : )

By brsmaryland, at 12:44 PM
OK, I already had one guess (well, actually 3 on the same post) but I've been thinking about it and here's my theory. You made these clay things, you're not really sure how you want to use them so you made up this contest to get ideas! Am I right????

I have to say buttons. They look like Sculpey clay. Way cute, whatever they are!!
By Anonymous, at 8:04 PM
It looks like you have been busy with Fimo, or Sculpey, or such like. Hmmm- buttons? Or perhaps some sort of knitting needle ends? Or hmmmm-maybe something along the line of doll plates??? Now I need to go and see what other answers were turned in!
By Deb, at 8:11 PM
Some sort of marzipan or fondant-covered edible treats? Maybe someone is having a birthday?

Just trying for anything but buttons, stitch markers, and needle-end covers. And jealous of the Martian Moon Pie thought - I love me a Martian Moon Pie!
