Upon turning 30, part II
Last week, I mentioned that Thom got me a new toy for my birthday.
I've never owned an iPod before, so this is all quite new to me. I do listen to podcasts on my laptop, but I don't have a huge list of favorites. And my music collection is, at best, pathetic.
So, enlighten me --
What are your favorite podcasts, knitting or otherwise?
What music should I check out -- new, classic, or inbetween? (My tastes are all over the map, so fire away!)

Ooh! the fun of loading up a new ipod. For podcasts:
This American Life and CBC Radio3. The CBCR3 will lead you down the path to Tegan and Sara, a little Joel Plaskett and some Weakerthans to round it out. And maybe some AC Newman too.

I briefly listened to podcasts, but I'd much rather listen to books or music. If you drop me your snail mail address, I can send you a mix of some eclectic music. :)

My favorite knitting podcasts are CastOn, Lime & Violet, and Stash & Burn. I listen to others, but those are the "go to" ones for me.
I don't listen to a lot of non-knitting podcasts but I do like Beyond Reality Radio. It's all paranormal and ghosty stuff by the guys from the TV show Ghost Hunters.

Oh girl..............you are going to LOVE your Nano. I listen to mostly books and music from my high school/college days.
There are a couple knitting podcasts I listen to but will dropping one soon since the language is pretty foul on one of them.
Belated happy birthday to you!

Sticks and String, Stash and Burn when it comes to knitting. I've been listening to a series of lectures on Byzantine history as well which is interesting. My favorite music podcast hands down is Chill Podcast. Full of really awesome chilled out music.
Oh, don't forget Librivox!
Happy 30th!

My DH likes to download audiobooks (fiction, non-fiction, whatever you like) from audible.com
You can also get music/cds/audio books from your local library, and download them onto your ipod!
I like listening to Terry Gross interviews on NPR, David Sedaris, This American Life, etc.
I've never listened to a knitting podcast, maybe I'll check it out.

Rather than podcasts, I follow two music blogs that have free (FREE!) downloads nearly every day.

Let's see. Cast On, Lime & Violet, Stash & Burn, and Knitters Uncensored are my favorite podcasts. As for music, I try to stay a little current for the sake of not sounding like an old fogey when I talk to Rick's kids, so Snow Patrol, Fall Out Boy, Modest Mouse, and My Chemical Romance get a fair amount of airplay in addition to my old favorites (Queen, Sting, the Stones, the Police, Def Leppard, Paul Simon). Oh, and since you can watch videos on the new nanos, might I suggest The Tudors if you are at all interested in history? I downloaded the first season on my iPod last week, and it makes knitting time at lunch breaks just like knitting time at home - I get to watch TV!
Last but not least, welcome to 30! (It's really not as bad as I thought it would be, and the Depends are optional. ;))
